Our Beneficiaries
Camp Nejeda
After spending a week at Camp Nejeda, a sleep-away summer camp in Sussex County, New Jersey that has been empowering kids living with Type 1 diabetes since 1958, William declared, “Every kid with Type 1 diabetes should go to Camp Nejeda!” He’s right!
We support Camp Nejeda and its campership program, which pays all camp fees for those kids with the greatest need. Since 2018, Type 1 Willpower has sent 80 kids to camp for one week each.
DIABETES SCHOLARS
A program of Beyond Type 1, Diabetes Scholars offers merit-based college scholarships to high school seniors living with Type 1 diabetes. While there is no greater tool for empowerment than education, a college education (and living with T1D) is expensive.
So we’re lessening the burden for three awesome kids by funding $10,000 scholarships: two $2,500 scholarships for residents of New Jersey and one $5,000 scholarship for a Division I student-athlete.
Diabetes Research Institute Foundation
We dream of a day when all people living with Type 1 diabetes can live without insulin dependence, when kids are no longer burdened by this chronic disease, and when parents can rest easy knowing that potentially life-threatening hypoglycemic events are a thing of the past.
We support the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation because we are encouraged and excited by their singular focus on curing diabetes now because tomorrow is not soon enough. Since 2018, we have given $30,000 for their important cure-focused research.
RIDING ON INSULIN
Riding on Insulin empowers, activates and connects the Type 1 diabetes community through shared experience and action sports, such as ski and snowboard shred sessions for kids living with Type 1 diabetes.
ROI offers scholarships to kids who otherwise wouldn’t be able to spend a day on the mountain. We love that! Since the 2018-2019 winter season, we have funded EIGHTEEN shred session scholarships to allow ROI to continue its mission of instilling resilience in those facing chronic diseases.
