Camp Nejeda

After spending a week at Camp Nejeda, a sleep-away summer camp in Sussex County, New Jersey that has been empowering children with Type 1 diabetes since 1958, William declared, “Every kid with Type 1 diabetes should go to Camp Nejeda!”

He’s right!  We support Camp Nejeda and its campership program because no parent’s financial circumstances should prevent a child with Type 1 diabetes from experiencing Camp Nejeda.

Since 2018, Type 1 Willpower has funded EIGHTEEN one-week camperships to send kids to Camp Nejeda.  Help us send even more kids to Camp Nejeda.

Diabetes Research Institute Foundation

We dream of a day when all people with Type 1 diabetes can live without insulin dependence, when children can be freed of the burdens of living with a chronic autoimmune disease, and when parents can rest easy with the knowledge that potentially life-threatening episodes of hypoglycemia are a thing of the past.  We are dedicated to achieving a cure for Type 1 diabetes.

We support the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation because we are encouraged and excited by their singular focus on curing diabetes now because tomorrow is not soon enough. Help us achieve a cure.

RIDING ON INSULIN

Riding on Insulin empowers, activates and connects the Type 1 diabetes community through shared experience and action sports, including ski/snowboard and mountain bike shred sessions for kids living with T1D. We learned about ROI at our inaugural Turkey Trot from fellow Laker Benji Wuersch, a snowboard instructor who is living with Type 1 diabetes.

ROI offers scholarships to kids who otherwise wouldn’t be able to spend a day on the mountain. We love that! So we funded FIVE “true cost” scholarships for the 2018-2019 winter season to allow ROI to continue its mission of instilling resilience in those facing chronic diseases.

DIABETES SCHOLARS

A program of Beyond Type 1, Diabetes Scholars offer merit-based scholarships open to high school seniors living with Type 1 diabetes who are headed to college. While we believe there is no greater tool for empowerment than education, we recognize that a college education (and living with T1D) is expensive. So we’re going to lessen the burden for two extraordinary individuals.

We are thrilled to partner with Diabetes Scholars to offer one $2,500 scholarship for a resident of New Jersey and one $2,500 scholarship for a student-athlete who will be competing in Division I athletics.
